Would these be signs of ear mites or something else?

Today my mom and I noticed our cat is acting different. She can't keep her ears perky, instead they're sort of flat. picture a gremlin - that's how her ears are sitting. She keeps shaking her head too, and won't let anyone touch her ears. A few nights ago and a little bit today she was coughing/sneezing while trying to sleep. Would these be signs of ear mites or something more serious? just looking for opinions before we take her to the vet...
